Meet Richard
In my early twenties I developed Alopecia and began exploring the world of hair systems as a wearer. Like many people entering the industry for the first time, I realised that many of the products available simply weren’t designed for the real-life experiences. Over time I moved from wearer to barber, and eventually to salon owner specialising in hair replacement.
That journey gave me a unique perspective - understanding both the daily experience of wearing a system and the professional challenges technicians face when working with them. The Scruffy Hair Company was created to bridge that gap. Today we work closely with manufacturers and chemists to develop products specifically for wigs, hair systems and extensions, alongside distributing trusted brands such as Professional Hair Labs and Walker Tape Co.

We always recommend patch testing with a small amount of glue or tape on your wrist, at least 48 hours before your fitting, whether you have sensitive skin or not. For sensitive skin, a water based glue such as GHOSTBOND range or Great White from Walker Tape Co. Our favourite tape for sensitive skin is SensiTak Select by Walker Tape Co.
